Panasonic has just released the Lumix S9, and it’s making waves in the world of full-frame cameras. Weighing only 403g, this is Panasonic’s smallest and lightest full-frame mirrorless camera, making it a perfect companion for content creators on the go.

The Lumix S9 comes with a 24.2MP full-frame CMOS image sensor, the same one used in the highly acclaimed Lumix S5II. This sensor, paired with Panasonic’s phase detection autofocus, ensures faster focusing and subject recognition for people, animals, birds, cars, and motorbikes. Add to that the 5-axis in-body image stabilization and the 6.5-stop Dual IS 2 when using compatible lenses, and you’re looking at a camera designed to significantly reduce blurring even in handheld shots.

Color enthusiasts will appreciate the jazzy options for the Lumix S9’s front leather strip, which comes in Crimson Red, Dark Olive, Night Blue, and the classic Jet Black. This color choice extends to the thumb grip on the back as well.

One of the standout features of the Lumix S9 is its Real Time LUTs. With a dedicated LUT button, users can apply predetermined color adjustments directly in-camera, making it easier than ever to share ready-to-go photos and videos on social media. The new Lumix Lab app, available on Android and iOS, enhances this feature by allowing users to load custom LUTs or create their own from scratch.

For video creators, the Lumix S9 introduces a new video format called MP4 Lite, which results in smaller file sizes for quicker transfers. Despite the reduced size, it allows for recording in Open Gate in 4:2:0 10 bit at 30p/25p, ensuring high-quality footage that’s easy to crop for various social media platforms.

The Lumix S9 will hit the market at the end of June 2024 with a price tag of $1,499 for the body only. It will also be available in kits: one with a Lumix S 20-60mm lens for $1,799, and another with a Lumix S 28-200mm lens for £2,249 (no word yet on U.S. and Australian availability for this kit).

The Lumix S9 continues Panasonic’s legacy of creating robust, pocket-sized cameras. With features catering specifically to content creators, it’s poised to become a favorite for those looking to shoot and share high-quality content effortlessly.

All in all, the Lumix S9 packs a powerful punch in its tiny frame. With its full-frame sensor, advanced autofocus, and easy-to-use LUT features, it offers everything content creators need. Whether you’re into photography or videography, this camera is designed to make your life easier.
