Fujifilm has just introduced the GFX100S II, marking another impressive addition to its renowned GFX Series. This model stands out not just for its advanced features but also for being the lightest camera in the series featuring a 102MP large format sensor.

At the heart of the GFX100S II is the newly developed 102MP GFX 102MP CMOS II sensor and the X-Processor 5 engine, elevating image quality to unprecedented levels. This sensor, approximately 1.7 times larger than a 35mm full-frame sensor, ensures rich tonal gradations and a shallow depth of field, bringing professional-quality imaging within easier reach.

The GFX100S II is tailored for both seasoned professionals and enthusiastic photographers eager to delve into large format photography. What makes it exceptional is its advanced autofocus system, featuring AI-based subject detection. This system, honed through deep learning, can track a diverse range of subjects, including animals, birds, cars, and even drones, ensuring precise focus and capturing every critical moment.

Additionally, this model boasts an in-body image stabilization function that’s been upgraded to a 5-axis mechanism with a maximum of 8 stops. This enhancement ensures remarkably steady shots, even in low-light conditions. The camera can shoot continuously at up to 7.0 frames per second, making it adept at capturing fast-moving subjects with ease.

Video capabilities haven’t been overlooked, either. The GFX100S II supports smooth 4K/30P recording with the ability to track autofocus during filming. It can record in 4:2:2 10bit directly to an SD card and supports Apple ProRes recording via an external SSD. This model also includes the Frame.io Camera to Cloud service, streamlining the workflow from shooting to editing.

Furthermore, the camera introduces the BISHAMON-TEXTM texture, enhancing grip and comfort during handheld shooting. Despite its advanced features, it remains compact and lightweight at approximately 883 grams, and maintains a resolution and color reproduction that set new standards in the GFX series.

With an impressive 5.76-million dot high-resolution EVF, users can enjoy clear and accurate framing. Plus, the Pixel Shift Multi-Shot mode allows photographers to create images with up to 400MP resolution, adding another layer of versatility to this already feature-rich camera.

For those interested, the GFX100S II will be available in the UK from June 17, 2024, at a suggested retail price of £4,999 including VAT. An optional metal hand grip is also available for enhanced stability, priced at £135 including VAT.

The Fujifilm GFX100S II captures the essence of high-end photography in a lightweight, versatile package. With its blend of advanced features and user-friendly design, it sets a new benchmark for what photographers can expect from a mirrorless digital camera.
